On April 21st, 2016, Dr. Audra Diptee – the Managing Director of the History Watch Project – presented a paper based on her research project entitled “Slavery and Memory in Present Day Humanitarian Discourses” at la Conférence internationale ‘La mémoire de l’esclavage dans tous ses états. Perspectives internationales comparées,’ Université d’ Ottawa.
Her paper explores the strategies and methodologies that historians could employ to better influence current discourses that shape the fight against modern slavery.
The event conference was organized by Dr. Abdoulaye Gueye (University of Ottawa) and Dr. Johann Michel (L’ecole des hautes études en sociales sciences, Paris). Participants met in Paris and in Ottawa.
